3 Tips You NEED to Know When Getting Ready for Holiday Office Parties

Bring out your luxurious jewel-tone pieces, dust off your tux, and shine up your shoes because party season is upon us and it’s time to bring out our best to impress.
I insist that you complete your due diligence before going overboard at the Holiday Office Party this year. After all, you don’t want to become the hot conversation piece in the lunchroom afterwards. To help you, I’ve prepared three tips that will have your co-workers envious of your style and wishing they knew who dressed you.
1. Sometimes less is more. Ladies, pick your asset and stick with it. If you’re showing off your legs, cover up your chest; and if you’re showing off your chest, cover up your legs. A little goes a long way. Even though it’s an evening affair, you’re still amongst your co-workers and, at the end of the day, you want to be making a statement about your classy and smart sense of style and not about your body. Avoid too-toos: too short, too much cleavage, too transparent and too sexy.
2. My mantra is: you are better to err on the side of caution and be the best dressed person in the room. Just as there are dress codes for the office, there are also standards for cocktail parties and semi-formal holiday celebrations. Step up your style and don’t be caught out in your daily office wear. Ladies, if you want to skip on dragging a dress-bag to the office, wear your dress but cover up with a blazer for the day. At the end of the day, pop into the ladies room and change out of your blazer, accessorize, add a splash of color to your lips, and switch up your handbag.
3. You are not a Christmas tree, so don’t sparkle from head to toe. This is not the first time that I’ll admit to having a “shiny object syndrome”. While I almost always need to have something sparkling on me, it is important to achieve balance and harmony. If you’re wearing an understated dress, then add some glamorous jewels and a clutch. If your dress is the statement, skip on the bling.
Gentleman, accessorize your suit with a great pocket square and a handsome watch. After all, what is better looking than a well dressed man?
Instead of… Opt for…
Black – Rich jewel toned colors. They are a sexy selection for the holiday season.
Matching your shoes & clutch – Mixing up the colors – but make sure that they go. This will add interest to your look
No panty hose – Opaque hose. They’ll add a luxurious touch to your look.
Wish List!
Invest in a signature scent. We’re hardwired to remember scents. They bring back memories and create new ones.
People often inquire as to what scent I wear. I’ve been wearing Flowerbomb by Vikor and Rof for years and I refuse to switch. It’s, obviously, a delicious scent.
Gentleman, skip on cheap body sprays and invest in quality. Yves Saint Laurent’s L’Homme is a handsome fragrance that will leave your date clinging to your arm all evening long.
